María de Salinas was a friend and lady-in-waiting to Catherine of Aragon. She is currently being played by Alice Angliss in the West End production of Six the Musical, and by Elena Bonomo in the Broadway production.

Trivia[]

  • On 5 January 1536, María forced her way into Kimbolton Castle to see Catherine of Aragon after being previously denied permission to see her multiple times. Catherine later died two days later, 7 January 1536, in María's arms.
  • María's daughter, Katherine Brandon, was considered by Henry VIII to be his seventh wife while he was still married to his sixth wife, Catherine Parr.
  • María is mentioned in the show by both Catherine of Aragon and Katherine Howard. Out of all of the Ladies in Waiting, María is mentioned the most.
    • María is the only one of the Ladies in Waiting that is mentioned in the middle of a queens' solo during a live performance of the show.
